    Default Wild Cypripedium acaule, Georgia

I believe these are Cypripedium acaule, or Pink Lady's Slippers. My Wife and I found this one a couple of weeks ago while hiking a forestry service road in Rabun County, Georgia on vacation. I've been told they're fairly rare this far south. It's the first orchid we've personally "discovered" growing wild.

What a great discovery! I bet there are more around this one. Usually when I have seen orchids in the wild, there are others near by of the same type. Really a beautiful Cypripedium orchid.

    cheers,
