Cattleya mossiae coerulea (‘No 33’ x ‘Herrera’)

my most stubborn Cattleya.
I bought this plant two years ago in sheath. Very soon it developed another sheath, than a few more etc. To make a long story short, the plant is FINALLY blooming. The buds appeared from completely dry sheath of 2010.
The flowers are not very big (I did not measure yet but I suppose no more that 6.5" in diameter), but it is first bloom. I hope the Catt will become more generous next year.

Jim, there are more than five I think... I will check tomorrow. The plant has a few sheaths, too... some of them are one year old.

I love orchids like this one. They teach patience which is a trait I need to develope. I have had a couple like yours that took forever to bloom. The sheaths would develope and then stop and just gloat at me. The ones that dried on me eventually got the best of me and I opened them. I found that they budded and bloomed in a very short time. Makes me feel good to be in control and say to hell with patience. Lol. Your orchid is lovely and well worth the wait.
