Miltoniopsis NoId in S/H

I've never been successfull with Miltoniopsis. The first one I had died (or should I say I killed her) allmost inmediately. This one, the second I buy, went in the same direction. I had allways been wanting to try S/H since I read about it in different forums, so I finaly decided the time had come to give it a try. I chose the plant that was "nearest to death" just in case. It happened to be this miltoniopsis. After about tend days of havig it in S/H look what I discovered.

Great job! I have most of my collection in S/H, and I found some plants really (and I mean REALLY) love it. I've had others that just sit there and pout.

I see your original post is from July, is your Milt. still liking its S/H?

That's really neat and tempts me- I saw a lovely miltoniopsis in a store, but passed it by because of the heat issues here. I've been wondering if S/H might make a difference and if it was worth trying. Your experience says 'maybe'- don't know if you're as hot as here, but I've never heard Barcelona had cool summers. It certainly seems to have worked well for you!

If your humidity is high, the evaporation rate might not be sufficient for any appreciable cooling. I do know that folks have gotten some added evaporation by using the LECA in an unglazed clay pot, standing it in a tray of water (external reservoir).
