For 30 years I have been moving these iris around my yard looking for a perfect spot for them. My years of transplanting are over! I moved them last in October 2011, I think they like this spot best.


This orange rhodedendrum is a deciduous rhodie, it is actually a much brighter, denser color than my phone captured.


This pale yellow Rhodie "capistrano" is one my garden consultant found for me when we renovated the adjacent bed last summer. I think she made a great choice.

Bill - they are hardy geraniums, as to their name, long ago lost to time, they were planted in 1996. - martha

Beautiful, Martha! (Though I know this next comment will likely highlight my "peculiar" nature, I'll say it anyway ... "I LOVE that boulder!")

What type of Heuchera is that in the lower right? Is it pretty good about keeping its color all summer long?

Paul - that 'boulder" is a piece of ledge. Ledge is also the front and rear foundation of my house, leaks like a sieve in a heavy rainfall hence the wet cellar. The Heuchera is copper and keeps it's color all year round. I have six more on the other side of the driveway. There use to be a large maple tree where the iris are planted but a strong N'oreaster tipped it Southward one year and we prudently had it removed which was a good thing since it mostly just sat on the boulder and was very shallow rooted, the next big storm would have take it down, probably right into the driveway and on top of our cars.

If they bloom all summer and through the fall chances are it is Roseanne. No matter what the name I love them and the rest of your garden.
