Paph Odette's Spell (vini)

Paph. Odette's Spell is one of the modern-day vinicolor paphs, so named because of the rich red-purple coloration of the flowers. Once rare and prohibitively expensive, good-quality vinis are now so widely available and inexpensive that any orchid grower can afford to grow an entire collection of them. That said, vinis have perhaps the most intense love/hate relationship of any paph with the orchid community; certain growers despise their dark color, hairs, and warts, while other growers are completely enthralled with their intense color and commanding presence.
The key to selecting a true vinicolor seedling usually lies at the leaf base. The vast majority of vinis will have a prominent splash of red at the base of the plant that often extends into the leaf undersurfaces. The term "double factor" vinicolor refers to the presence of red not only at the base and undersurfaces, but on the upper leaf surfaces as well. These plants are often priced higher, although the distinction between the double factors and plants with regular vini leaf bases is a questionable one at best.
