Default Blc Pink Empress (Bc Mt Hood x Blc Bryce Canyon)

This is the largest cattleya I have . The flower measures 19cm (almost 7 3/4 inch) across. I am told that on a well grown specimen, the flower may reach 9 inches. This medium lavender coloured cattleya is a very compact plant ( the pseudo-bulb is only 4 inches long excluding the leaf).I believe this compact growth is inherited from the Blc Bryce Canyon parent. This is the third reblooming under my care.

Congrats Yew-Sung. The flowers look fantastic. Sure you should be able to grow it to 9 inches next season.

7 3/4 inch is already amazing.
    Imagine 9 inch!
And it looks like the flower has a good substance. The petals are not collapsing.

Thanks Horst. Yes it has very good substance and the petals are held rigid and flat for such a big flower. The 9 inchers are reputed to be grown in Taiwan, though I've never seen one here of that size. Another of similar size is Blc King of Taiwan but mine has only attained to slightly less than 7 inches.

Thanks ksriramkumar. I doubt I'll be able to grow them to that size in our hot climate. In our hot lowlands I have only been able to bloom my Pot Haw Yuan Gold to 5 1/2 inches though I've seen the one from Taiwan, at one of the WOCs that was more than 7 inches.
