My kids know better than to play ball in the house, but while I was at work the other evening, there was a vanda incident that I was unaware of~ involving my very last vanda, the ball, and my kids. Well they accidentally uprooted it completely and I didn't find out about it until the next day. It was late when I got home so we went straight to bed. The next day I did a shocked doubletake when I noticed the strong healthy roots sticking straight up in the air, but the crown of the plant was UNDER the medium. My kids had tried to replant it without me finding out. Okay, staying calm, I quickly cleaned it up, and repotted it. But there were also a few dead roots that I wanted to cut away before putting it in the new medium. And woe of all woes, I accidentally cut some of the healthy roots off along with it, actually most of them.I almost had a heart attack when I saw those perky perfectly healthy roots drop to the work space below. I think I may have also shed a few unconscious tears as well in the slow and silent aftermath of my stupid mistake. I went ahead and repotted it and it is resting. I'm hoping for the best, but I don't know what to expect with so few roots on the poor plant.
