flower spike

am just wondering, could someone tell me how long it takes for a flower to bloom from a flower spike? hehe

am a novice and one of my plant has the flower spike for i think a couple of weeks now. am so excited already to see it bloom.

btw my plant is a dendrobium phal type i think. thank you in advance.

Anywhere from 2 to 3 months. Could be longer or shorter depending on the type of dend and the growing conditions.

Keep up patience! Watching spikes bloom seem to take forever, lol !

I heard an interesting tidbit from a Bermudian friend who's a landscape architect. He said that the longer a spike takes to form, the longer you can expect the bloom to last.

I hadn't thought of that before. What do you guys think??

That is why I bought Ortho Book of Orchids so while mine are not in bloom yet I just flip on the pages and imagine my orchids would look like them. hehe Giving me hope and more patience. hehehe

Aaah...finally it has bloomed. I know this is just one NOID dendrob but still as a newbie am just so proud to show my baby. I hope this would stay long in bloom.

Very nice indeed! Bravo! Dend. blooms tend to last a long time. They are very thick and waxy. Your bloom is beautiful. Very nice color and shape!

Congratulations!! I've been growing orchids for years and never had a dend bloom for me until this year. Mines green with a sort of red-purple center. but I bought it with a bud of a spike started, so I can't really take credit for doing anything other than keeping it alive long enough to bloom
