Cattleya spots and no new pseudobulbs

Can anyone tell me what might be the problem with my cattleya? As far as I remember, it hasn't had any new growth for 2 years. Here are a couple of photos of the orchid. You can see the spots, but also there are some green roots visible.

First impression is that it is buried too deeply in the bark. My understanding is the rhizome should be above the bark.

I can't speak about the spots.

Thanks - maybe a repotting would be in order; it's been awhile, and I'm wondering if the pot is too big for it right now.

I would pick the bark out one piece at a time and take a look. Maybe just uncovering would be enough. Why disturb the roots at this point if you don't have to?

My biggest mistake with catts has been to re-pot at the wrong time.

Agree with Harvey. One more observation. Root tips look burnt/damaged. did you use any fertilizer that could have burnt the root tips?. the spots in the leaves look like a sun burn due to water spots. check the underside of the leaves also

Very good advice from both Harvey and Sriram. The light green/yellowish leaves do indicate that the plant may have been exposed to high light levels.

Thanks - it's possible that I used fertilizer when I shouldn't have - during a rest period, maybe. The orchid summered on the deck and may have gotten too much sun during a time that I was away from home. The underside of the leaves seems okay.

Make sure any fertilizing is done after the plant and roots were watered with plain water. Fertilizing dry roots can cause the burn.

Thanks - I do make sure that I never fertilize a dry orchid. It's possible that a "helper" did, however.
