Sometimes, you make do with the space you have. So this dendrobium platygastrium, mounted on a cedar plank, now lives hooked to the outside of a lampshade, next to my living room window. It has been unintentionally abused by getting sunburned on a couple of leaves, during my outdoor growing experiment, which are gone now (the big gap on the leafed cane). Also I ripped half of another leaf off opening the shade one morning. I acquired this one in mid-April.
Despite all this, it must be happy as I discovered 3 spikes on it the other day and there is also a new growth about 4 inches long so far. 2 spikes are on the newest, mature growth and another on a leafless cane.
