A very floriferous hybrid this one . Still in a 7 inch pot, but with 7 spikes in flower, and another 3 on the way. "Only" 4 or 5 flowers per spike, due to the parentage - 25% Cym. goeringii - which is often single flowered, and 25% Cym. sinense, which is also few flowered - as compared to the older , larger hybrids - but the number of spikes more than makes up for that.Those two species are chinese ones , and I guess they have only been available to obtain breeding stock relatively recently.
Personally I love these flowers, and I am getting rid of my older hybrids to make way for more of this kind of thing.

What is the other 50%? I have become very interested in Chinese cymbidiums. I recently acquired a blooming size Cymbidium sinense Xi Ju but I haven't seen any chinese cymbidium hybrids. Do your hybrid flowers have a fragrance? The fragrance is what I am looking forward to. The foliage of my sinsense is also lovely.

What is the other 50%?

19% insigne, 10% lowianum, 8% eburneum, 6% ensifolium, 7% "other"- whatever that means. As per Orchidwiz.
Fragrance - yes - I would not go quite so far as to say perfume, but yes, fragrance.
There are about 5 or 6 of these hybrids, Eastern Cloud varieties, Eastern Beauty, Nagalux and so on, said to have been bred in Japan, which one of the European dealers imported and sold - I have them all, and love them all - but I fear you won't be able to get them ( at least not easily) because of CITES, unless of course a US dealer has also got them.
As to the species , which I am collecting, there are endless varieties of some of the nicer ones - e.g. goeringii I have about three kinds now and a couple of sinense varieties too. However there is a Chinese nursery which is an excellent source for the species , Wenquing ( Mrs H) is very knowledgeable - I have met her at a few shows around Europe and in South Africa too, and I think she does visit USA - if you don't know her nursery - I can pm details to you.

I got my sinense from an auction seller that I have been happy with. They are imported from China. I notice he has just listed some more including a few goeringii varieties. They seem to be the most sought after but I may try again for one. I assume Mrs H's nursery is not in the US but let me know. After posting I did find a few ensifolium hybrids in the US.
