Default Cane Dendrobian - Flower Spike or Keiki

I know being patient for a few more weeks will allow the Dendrobian to answer my question, but I watched this grow from a bud to this 4 inch growth thinking I had a flower spike but not so sure now. If this is a keiki, should I feed the plant extra. Its in well drained coarse bark - gets 2 dilute feeds and 1 watering a week (well water from below chalk), SE facing window - blind drawn to avoid direct sun mornings. It last flowered in February

Strange looking thing. Not really sure what to make of it.

Looks like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. I'm pretty sure it's going to release spores that take over your mind.

    Definitely keep us updated.

I think that's settled then - its an invader from the planet Dendro; I can just make out its head and a claw. Fortunately does not look as if can climb stairs, so should be able to sleep soundly tonight.

The mother plant had 3-spikes in February, I clumsily broke one of these and placed in water where it continued to bloom for about 6 weeks, lovely colours think flowers were about 2 inch
