Such a lovely Paph. Have just seen pics of them growing on the sea islands around Langkawi ( a talk at my local Orchid Society). Reminded me of the time I went to Ang Thong archipelago to see them, but was disappointed , and it was not flowering season anyway- but the trip to the islands from Koi Samui where I was on holiday for a few days after a more jungly holiday in North East Thailand , by speedboat, was the greatest thrill of the trip for my wife. I will remind her of it later today. She cannot walk more than a few steps now, ( age and infirmity- approaching her 90th birthday in a few months - ) and we spend a lot of time reminiscing about happy memories from the past.

Geoff for your info recently they found new colonies of niveum in Ipoh, Perak over the limestones mountains very odd usually only happened in Northern part of Malaysia like Langkawi and Baling in Kedah...interesting species distribution. In my collection I only got one plant, niveum variety Ang Thong albino form so far doing quite well. So sweet memories do all the best for your wife.

So lovely!!! Love the freckles and the mottled leaves !!!
I was given my first Paph last weekend (I think it is a insigne var barbigerum) at least from the photo that came with it, since it is not currently in bloom.
Any advice you can give me? I read something bout it but keep having conflictive information regarding light intensity. (Water is clear: likes moist!)

Looks very interesting is a cool growing species which is native to India ,Thailand and Myanmar I also got few varieties of Paph barbigerum and P.villosum both required high light intensity especially if you put them in the cool chamber and they do love direct morning sun and the leaves looks great very dark green. I used lava rocks together with perlites as a medium and tendency to dry very fast and I need to spray the water once a day.Hot or cold draughts is not good for the buds as he may turn brown and gone so I always maintain the moisture especially at the roots level.
