Tillandsia ionantha in bloom

hi everyone, I got this in one of my vivariums. Its too kool to look at, so I have to share!

My Tillandsia ionantha in bloom. Its got two more blooms on the way.
The plant was very green when I first got it, and then over the course of a week or less it turned bright red and bloomed!

Beautiful! I love air plants and broms. We vacation on Sanibel every fall. They have crews there that clean the air plants off the power lines. Wonder what they do with them? They grow everywhere and on everything! Driving Alligator Alley or the Tamiami Trail in our motorhome is always a neat experience too. In the motor home we sit up high so the view is eye to plant with many beautiful broms.

Very nice! My small collection of Tillandsia species has that one, and now I know the name of it (Tillandsia ionantha)... thanks! That Platystele stenostachya is doing VERY well in that terrarium too!

As for the airplants they clean off the power lines here in Florida, I guess they just get thrown away. Tillandsia recuravata (Ball Moss) is very common, and is just a pain.
