A strange thing happened to one of my orchids this week. One day all the blooms on the white noid phal were perfectly normal, with the oldest bloom just beginning to fade. this was normal in that the blooms typically last about 90 - 100 days and blooming had begun in september.
the next day i noticed all the blooms becoming wrinkley and yellowing. not normal cos the blooms died off one at a time before.
3 days on, the entire spike is yellowing and dying at a rate that i've never seen before, and the flowers are history.
what i wanted to ask is if this will be affecting/damaging the actual plant as well. i'm not too concerned with the loss of the flowers (they were beginnning to annoy me anyway), but i'm worried about the plant. could it have something to do with the plug in air-freshner that was nearby.
sorry i dont have photo's, cos the parents took the camera away on holiday.
