Hi all!
I just realized that I never got around to actually uploading any of my pictures from the NYC orchid show! Wow, I'm really behind...
Here are just a few pictures- I actually went back this past saturday after figuring out how to work my digital camera a bit better for flower close-ups.
Anyone else in the New York area? I highly recommend the orchid show at the botanical garden!!
A few more...
I cannot imagine how amazing it must have been to see orchids at the botanical gardens! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool photos! Thanks for posting them to share!
Cheers,

I've really got a hankering for a zygopetalum - I assume that is the plant in the first picture. If not, not to worry - but lovely photos.
I saw a few cultivars at the weekend, and fell in love with the contrast between the purple and green camouflage patterns (well that's how it appears to me).
Unfortunately, we were on a fish buying trip, not a plant buying exercise (according to husband) and I was banned from buying anything other than bark for repotting. But I have Friday off work, and I am making him take the train to work so I get the car, so maybe I can sneak off and see if he notices a couple of extra plants!![]()
So...how many did you buy?
McEnabling
I didn't get any!!!![]()
I didn't even go to a nursery, although what with the one north of London being 50 miles away and the one south of here being 60 miles away and the weather being really bad today, I'm not sure that I really wanted to make the trip.
Is it a bad or good thing I held out? (Hey - I read your virgin post today McAddict). I did think that maybe I should hold off for a while, and make sure that I don't kill anything. There is a big show coming up in June (yes I know 3 months is a long time) but if I can persuade Tom to go with me, then maybe I can come back with a carload of plants. I admit I did go to the RHS plant centre again and stared longingly at some phals, and found some nice other stuff like Zygo's, Cym's, Miltassias and Cambrias(didn't you say that they don't exist?) , but I got really irritated that they were all NOIDs. (I have become a little snobbish)
Big sigh, maybe tomorrow, or monday, or maybe when nursery no 2 has their next open weekend I will take my mum and go get myself a zygo or two. And maybe a mini cym. And an odontoglossum. And possibly another phal.![]()
I tell you what though, if I could find a nursery within driving distance (as in NOT in scotland) that did some phal species or primary hybrids, I'd have been out there like a shot!
very nice...looks like it was a nice show!
