This psychopsis originally had a very tall spike but the plant was noticeably wilting.
So I decided to cut the spike and this growing season it is sprouting a new pseudobulb and several new roots.
I also noticed that there are a couple of buds swelling on the remnant of the spike.
Does anyone know if psychopsis spikes branch out and continue to bloom? or do they produce keikis from old spikes?

Notice that the portion above the node is beginning to dry up, consistent with an expiring spike. But the portion below the node is still alive and healthy.
