Dendrobium Chrysopterum question

I recently purchased this Dendrobium chrysopterum from an online orchid vendor and it arrived completely devoid foliage. This is a deciduous orchid so I believe this is normal, but I have found little cultural information on this species. Anyone have any experience with this species? Its potted in moss so I'm trying to dry it out right now. If I can get it to bloom it should be spectacular.

give it bright light but not full sun, decrease water in the winter and withhold fertilization. It doesn't get a totally dry rest though. It is a cool to hot grower, so you don't need to worry about temps except for the winter when it needs constant cool temps. I would keep it at 55-60F for the winter. It can bloom at any time of the year but mid winter is the most common blooming period for this species.
You may find more info if you google Dend subclausum, which I think is the accepted name of this species. It is in the Section Calyptrochilus of Dendrobium.

btw I would have expected leaves on this years growth. It usually blooms on the previous years growth.

Thanks Ron, The two growths are leafless but most definitely alive so I'll follow your advice and we'll see what happens.
