Eny. Jackie Bright and Ett. Don Herman are very similar in appearance, especially color scheme, sharing Ctt. Gold Digger as a parent. The flat lip on this one makes me think it is Don Herman. Jackie Bright would be more likely to have a lip that is somewhat tubular at the base, like Gold Digger. The plant here also appears to be typical Don Herman. For Jackie Bright the plant is strongly influenced by the Encyclia parent.
Whatever it is, you have to love those bright flowers.
Now that Jewel Box 'Scheherazade' is stunning! You can say that again about the plant. Not only is my plant doing poorly but it just won't bloom here.
Those are lovely, Connie - all of them.
These don't like the usual high cattleya type sunlight. I bloomed both of these after I put them at the corners of the porch that have some shade. I keep my oncids back there as well. I no more moved them and they both popped these buds...two sheaths on both plants. So, I am grading plants by their color now. The greener they look the farther towards the highest exposure light, without being right out in 100% exposure, they get set. I am having so much more success now. It may just be the new water...lol. Darn orchids....
Beautiful Jewel box !

Hi Connie
I recently bought one at a local hardware store for very cheap and I can't wait to see it bloom. How did you get yours to bloom?
That's a beautiful epicatt. (I'm going to continue to use that name for now). It's funny that you posted this now. I just bought an epicatt. Don Herman yesterday. The only difference that I see is that the psuedobulbs on my Don Herman are taller. I also agree with Bruce. Your patio area is gorgeous and that tile floor is wonderful.
I haven't gotten mine to rebloom just yet...although it looks like it is making a spike as I type this. I keep mine in a sunny corner and spray regularly for fungus and rot. Mine likes to make sheath after sheath before it blooms a spike. I did have two spikes developing about 6 months ago, but they rotted before I got any flowers. The lady I bought this one from told me it was difficult. Since I have moved it into a corner and not moved it...and been very careful to keep all water off the leaves things are going better. They like to run a little dryer than some, while enjoying nearly full sun and a snug warm/hot corner. Hope your plant suprises you with a spike soon...
