Hello Trevor. My amateur guess is that this is not a Kagawara. I think you have a Mokara Dinah Shore. I have the same plant. Check out my post Red, Red, Red Vandas dated July 5, 2010. The first three photos are of the Mokara Dinah Shore. The fourth photo is a Kagawara which has smaller, brighter red flowers.
Mabuhay!
FME, I only water my orchids very early in the morning to avoid infections just like that one. Even if i wasn't able to water them for a week, i wouldn't dare again to water them any later than 10AM. My fungicide and pesticide regimen is also the same. For me, the best time for my orchids to receive water is really in the wee hours of the morning like between 4am-5am.

Mabuhay!
Storms/rainy season started around April and for the rest of the year we are still expecting around 8 (super) typhoons plus the incoming of the monsoon rains. It has been raining quite consistently in the afternoon and in the wee hours of the night but since my orchids are placed outside 24/7 and all of them are attached to the trees there's really nothing much i can do, i can't cover my trees or bring them inside my home. What i do is that i don't water at all. After a heavy rainfall i don't water for a week. And when i apply ferts (very early in the AM) in this kind of weather, i just spray it to them without watering my orchids first. My goal is is that they have got to be dry before the day ends which is hardly attainable nowadays.

@ Patty..Oh yeah I also think she loves orchids.. but I would not dare to let her roam in my garden again for I will die if she will pick the orchid flower and see the flower in her basket... again!!!!
@ Angel.. thanks, I'll sure check your post..
@ Uly.. what fungicide would you recommend?.. thanks..![]()
Mabuhay!
@trevor.....there are a lot of fungicides out there but be very careful in your application. For the past years, i have shunned using synthetic pesticides/fungicides, what i have now is an organic pesticide and some home-brew. For fungicides, i just use cinnamon and there are others here from their thread who uses "agua oxihenada" you know that white liquid you use when cleaning wounds. And i always improve on my orchid husbandry...tools should always be wipe clean with alcohol and bleach. I always apply alcohol when i'm touching my orchids especially diseased ones. And I don't kill bugs that i know are beneficial to the garden like centipedes, spiders, wasps and scorpions. And maybe i'm just lucky that i have a number of birds in the garden maybe they're eating some of the harmful insects. My orchids are at the mercy of the "elements" and i've been victimized by so many of them and its a very difficult balancing act but as the saying goes "if it dies it dies." hehehehe
goodluck
Thanks Uly!I"ll go find a fungicide asap!!! And thank you for the pieces of advice you shared.. ~![]()
