Shipping left one spike of flowers a little confused....but one of the spikes is just perfect! It's so hot down here I think the entire plant cooked a little. I've come up with a special pot for it so it's baked roots can recover. The bow is attached to twist ties holding it upright. I just love baskets like this, but you have to be careful and remember to dip them in a fungus treatment at least every 3 months to keep the bottom from getting nasty and black. They are so pretty in baskets...



The edges have sections made of basket liner cut to fit, the filler is a clay pellet, with spag. around the plants roots. Being in a basket will allow this plant greater air movement around the roots and as it grows it can skip across the top to the other side.





And lastly; my fav. shot of the one perfect flower....can you see the Mr Bill face? It might be easier to see if I blew it up a little more...

Thanks...I go basket shopping at the second hand stores when it's time to repot the catts. When the bottoms weaken I find a wooden basket to sit them in. Empty places I fill with the clay pellets and top with spag. There is actually a very small well with pure spag for the plant.

Brilliant idea! Are you using baskets for catts only, or you can plant whatever you want in them? Also can you fill with bark mix and lets say pot phal in it?

You can use them for whatever you want. The only thing to be careful of is overpotting. Also; it allows the roots to come out the bottom, so sometimes you'll end up having to hang them up or they attach to your shelving. lol I just had to pry one off a rattan shelf the other day.

good job on that one with the basket, very showy!
i have to repot mine pretty soon, sitting in a plastic pot and i think its too moist, i would prefer more watering and drying up in between.

So pretty, Connie. Our Brassia Eternal Wind 'Sato' is in bloom now. It is so hard to photograph the flowers though. I hope you enjoy your new orchid!!

Yeah, only this time, the flowers will look like spiders doing contortions. It is hard to tell what is what until you look at them pretty close. Being in that box really messed them up. At least the next blooming will be cool....lol.
