Phal Orchid Dilemma! What to do?

This little phal was given to me by my boss. He gave it to his wife and I go it after a few months...
I've had is now for over 2 months and I'm not quite sure how to help it. You see I'm in a dilemma! It has thrown a kieki so do I keep it as it is and hope to get a baby from it or do I cut the spike and try to save the plant.

My dilemma comes from the fact that IT'S ALIVE, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. It is like it is in suspended animation so to speak. If it was dieing then the course is plain - one live phals is better than 2 dead ones...

The only roots it has are the ones above the medium from what I can see. They are healthy and plump with nice little growing tips. BUT they haven't grown much since I got the plant. The funny thing is that it has grown several other roots since I got it but they get to a point and just stop.

What would you do?

Keep it in a humid environment and in low light until it establishes itself with more roots and at least one leaf. Then, repot it into a small, well draining bark mix and slowly introduce it to brighter light while maintaining humidity at 55% -85% and temps between 60 degrees and 80 degrees.

And I think you may have some sort of mites attack. In the picture, it looks like you have some rust colored layer on the leaf, and if it is some bug I would treat the plant. Then just give the root a good wetting every day and make sure you do not get water in the crown and this one will come back to life. You do have some good roots there!

Oh sorry. I should have mentioned. It's cinnamon on the leaf - the end went a little funny so I treated it and shook some cinnamon on it for good measure.
Here is this one root that turned slightly browner and started to rinkle a little. When I spray I keep the water away from this root. Reasons for it's change?
