Pahiopedilum fujiwara X delenatti- only bud to bloom

This is the only bloom that I got to open from this plant. It had 5 buds but one by one they either fell off or turned brown. Not sure what the problem is other than either a change in humidity or that maybe the petals were stuck in the lip. The one surviving bloom had the petal on the right firmly stuck in the lip. I had to wiggle it out with a wooden skewer. I don't think it allowed the lip to drop down as much. I am wondering if the others were stuck as well and they couldn't open. Does this type of thing happen often?

Sorry i dont have experience on what happened to your paph. So i can't suggest anything.

Nice bloom. Can't help as this has never happen to my paphs.

I had a paph that always had deformed flowers where the petals didn't split and open correctly and interfered with the pouch. Both flowers on the plant when I bought it did this and I waited for the next blooming and the same happened. I had purchased it locally at our Louisville Colorado orchid nursery and took it back. They allowed me to replace it with a paph of my choice for free.

Harvey. I am starting to think it might be the problem. It was purchased at an orchid show and I do have the grower's email. I will wait to see what happens in the next blooming cycle. I might have to be more proactive with the wooden skewer. Funny though that I am distantly related to the grower. In my ancestry there were seven brothers who settled this area. I'm from one brother and he is from another. They were farmers all of them and it seems there is a strong love of plants that is apparent in the family line. My grandfather loved his plants. We still have some of the plants my grandfather planted.
