I saw a big ( quite old) plant of this species a few years ago, and have been searching for it ever since. Last year I found a seedling "2 years from flowering" -although it grew very well for me, and has in fact flowered now - as you can see ; so only one spray of these gorgeous flowers this year. They are maybe an inch long, but so bright and cheerful.
Curiously enough, I think that if they were cattleya size it would be too much, and they would be gaudy and "in yer face" as they say, but this size, I think they are just great. A bigger old plant may have a few more per cluster, but rather more clusters .I look forward to it - the growth now in progress is already mujch thicker and taller than the flowering one I completed last year.
Enjoy !
