BLACK BLOTCHES

Hi everybody I just had my sisters ship me a bunch of my plants from home in Wisconsin down to my apartment here in Davie FL, where I go to school. I have only had them down here a few days and one of the bulbos. is developing black blotches on the leaf. I first noticed it as one big blotch the size of a fifty cent piece and now there are many smaller ones on the other leaves. I am wondering if it is too much light? Any ideas?

It does sound like sun burn, but without a photo, it is hard to tell. If the plant is getting direct sun, that would be my guess.

if the black blotches start off being wet and then dry out... then I would also consider fungus... so spray with a fungicide and up the air flow.

Thanks for the suggestions. I moved the plant to a spot where it gets the least light possible in my growing area and I dipped it in physan this morning. Hopefully one of these ideas will work.

One of my new dends has small black spots I noticed this morning.(Didn't have them when it arrived a few days ago. Is that more likely to be sunburn than fungus? I will move it. However, do want to know if I can use regular plant fungicide which I have plenty of, or do I need to get something special for orchids? Thanks.

Orchids don't require anything special. Regular plant fungicides are fine.
