Phal with one root

I have this Phalaenopsis Golden Treasure, and I really like it. Unfortunately, it only has one root, and one leaf. It is not doing well, and I would like to save it so maybe in a couple years it will bloom again. Does anybody have any advice on how to help the plant? By the way, It is currently growing in Sphagnum moss.

I'd advise using loose sphagnum moss like you are doing right now. Use some rooting hormones and increase humidity to stimulate growth. Keep it out of direct afternoon sunlight in case it gets dried up by the sun. Don't stress out too much and treat it like a normal plant, don't over water it. I wish you best of luck.

The good news is that if it's a Baldan's Kaleidoscope 'Golden Treasure', it's a very vigorous plant that has a lot of will to live. One of my favorite phals. Good luck Peloric!

Actually, the label just said Phal. Golden Treasure. It looks like a novelty. Pale yellow flowers with orange-ish spotting.

I have a yellow noID and it is the most vigorous phal I have It just keeps blooming and growing none stop

I had a beautiful white phal with huge blooms that I purchased from my super market. Unfortunately, it suffered from a severe case of root rot which I discovered when the blooms wilted prematurely. After trimming away all of the dead roots it had one live one left. I soaked my bark mixture and repotted it in a clear plastic pot with slits on the sides. I watered it when needed and in addition I fertilized it and watered it with a Superthrive solution every 2 weeks. I kept it near my kitchen sink for several weeks where it was warm and it got a lot of humidity. It did not lose any of its leaves and has put out 2 new ones. I carried it outside every night for 4 weeks so that it could chill down and am now waiting for it to reward me with a spike. Perhaps not this year, but I know it will someday. You can also put a plastic bag over the pot and plant leaving it open at the bottom.
Be patient it can take awhile.

A little rooting hormone wouldn't hurt. To increase humidity you could put it in a sealable plastic bag or put some other container like a pickle jar over it. You might also want to check out sphag and bag techniques on the web (to narrow down your search place the terms in quotation marks).

There is a Dtps. Golden Treasure, which would now be called a Phal. Golden Treasure.

Phals are hardy. Lots of good advice has been offered. Just be patient - it'll probably bounce back in time.
