Congratulations! What did you cross this phal with?
Cheers,

It's a self-cross. I have few plants so don't have a chance to cross between different species. Poor guy, hihihi
Beautiful blooms! Wow four pods! umm I read in a book that four pods is quite a strain on the plant.
A day ago I did some pollenating too on two plants. I'm looking for harlequins and spotted phals. I'm excited but I don't know if the plant will accept my pollen yet. Later I read to use saliva on the pollen becuase the enzymes will help break down proteins that says who's pollen it is (I forgot what its called scientifically, I knew in high school!) and helps the plant to accept the pollen better, especially if it is a selfing. Some plants reject their own pollen or other plants pollen because those ID protiens help the plant distinguish if the pollen is unsuitable, but depends on the plant. I guess they get to choose who makes their babies in way. I didnt do the saliva thing (if only I read that pollenating paragraph earlier) so I don't know if I'll be successful but I'll try again.
I have Yu Pin Pearl x self and Yu Pin Pearl x Ho's Lovely Stripes. I split the Yu Pin Pearl two pollen in half
Some people use contact len solution for selfing and helping plants to accept pollen better . The solution breaks down proteins which cover and protect the pollen.

Four pods is a lot on a single plant. Two pods can over-strain a plant and kill it. Keep an eye on momma - you don't want to lose her. A single pod has plenty of seed!

Yes Mem, It's may be too much for a single plant. No, it do not kill momma. This plant gave me 2 pods last year and it blooms this year. If there is something wrong momma will kill the pod first. Yes, the single pod has plenty of seeds however I really need seeds for exchanging with my friends for new species. Hope it's not hurt to try. Thanks for warning.
Wow!... Four pods!... It means millions of new plants!... who knows?... Maybe you introduce a new hybrid!...![]()
